Tulum, Sian Ka’an and lunch at Chamico’s
We could not speak higher of this experience. Our tour guide was Pablo. He was just a cool, warm and friendly guy. He was on time, the van was comfortable and refreshments were provided. Pablo knows a lot about Tulum’s history, construction and pivotal events in Mayan civilization and explains it in a way that doesn’t sound scripted. We cooled off floating through a Mangrove forests after crossing two large beautiful blue lagoons and Pablo explained their importance for the local Mayans. We concluded our day with a lunch that I would say was ‘Anthony Burdain worthy’. Chamico’s sits as an open campsite with plastic chairs and tables on the beach of Soliman Bay. The fish is right out of the bay, breaded and cooked in a massive iron skillet. The ceviche is insanely good.
We chose Pixan because they are a small private company that gives back to the local Mayan community in ways that the larger tour companies do not. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
